Don’t you think this is a better way to learn about ancient Egypt than simply by reading from a textbook? An experience like this helps our children to question orthodox knowledge in a way that leads to independent thought. It is important to us that the start of every child’s educational journey is a happy one which instills a life-long love for learning.
A six year old gazes at the ground, stoops, then reaches down between their muddy wellies to discover a fossil which has lain hidden for millions of years. Their curiosity is ignited, their questions are welcomed and their enthusiasm encouraged.
Good manners and responsibility for others is a very important part of being in Pre-Prep and our youngest children learn how to share, take turns, work collaboratively and take responsibility. We want them to learn life long values. Our timetabled outdoor classroom curriculum provides many opportunities for these to be explored.
The Early Years framework is the basis for all our teaching and learning. It is important that good foundations are laid in Nursery, Kindy and Reception. The learning journey begins in Nursery where our youngest children learn to share and socialise with others prior to moving on to Kindy.
Kindy children experience a play-based curriculum which also allows specialist teaching in French, music, sport and Forest School.
Reception children begin some more formal work alongside play-based activities and continued specialist teaching.
From KS1 the extensive curriculum gives every child the opportunity to excel in a variety of areas of school life: curriculum work, behaviour, termly productions or by taking part in extra-curricular activities.
Our small sized classes are led by excellent teachers and supported by teaching assistants allowing children to progress and be supported so that they become confident in their work. We celebrate individual success in many areas of school life in class and in assembly.
