On Tuesday 11th June, Year 8 set off on the longest bike ride we have ever done at Barrow Hills. The challenge was to cycle the Shipwright’s Way starting from the Alice Holt Forest and ending at the beach on Hayling Island. The ride was just short of 50 miles and I am delighted to say Year 8 arrived after seven hours of cycling! We went through forests, up a monster hill, on country roads and even the cycle path by the A3 for 200m!
We sadly had some falls with first aid required, but those who fell were keen to continue. So after patching up some of the children, and tweaking a few bikes along the way (not one puncture though!) we did arrive hungry for fish and chips!
We met a lot of people along the route who were mightily impressed with our school trip and a group of mums who wished they could tag along!
Year 8 you definitely showed resilience and bravery and I am very proud of you. Enjoy looking through this
video.
