Year 6 parents enjoyed a visit to Fat Sam’s Grand Slam on Tuesday evening when the Year 6 children performed the musical ‘Bugsy Malone’. The packed hall listened enthralled as the talented cast sang, danced and acted their way through songs such as ‘Fat Sam’s Grand Slam’, ‘ Down and Out’, ‘He’s a Sinner’ , ‘ My Name is Tallulah’ and ‘Bad Guys’. A band from King Edward’s (including old Barrow Hillian, Julien Early, and our very own Toby from Year 8) provided the music and they, and our musical director, Mr Richardson, just about managed to avoid being ‘splurged’ by our quick firing guns in the finale! Mr Frazer, our technical director, set up and worked all lights and sound, and it was wonderful to see our new blackout curtains, showing off our stage lighting and set. There were even guest appearances from Mr Hooker and Mr Hinds!
“Mrs Campbell-John and I were so proud of all the children. They have worked very hard to deliver a very high quality production. This is an incredibly complex show, yet we did not need to deliver a single prompt! Everyone worked as a team to deliver a superb evening of entertainment and we were so delighted with their performances last night. Thank you to all staff and all parents for their support.”
