Year 1 visited Tilford Rural Life Centre last week.
It was a brilliant day packed full of amazing learning opportunities providing some excellent cross curricular links to our science topic on ‘materials’.
The museum is based outdoors and full of various buildings and barns containing different examples of tools, furniture, transport of rural life from the 1900’s through to the 1960’s. Most of the buildings and objects are original artefacts. Every single building is beautifully designed using materials and styles typical of the time frame it was built and in stark contrast to the modern prefab post war house.
A highlight was definitely a visit to The Victorian school room!
All the Year 1 children received a free ticket to visit the museum again. Hopefully they can visit over the summer holidays.
