The theme for catering this half term is ‘taste not waste’ i.e. making the most of all the vegetables. On Friday 24th September, the children enjoyed a broccoli stem pesto with ‘use up’ mash gnocchi. Early years had a visit from Chris, our executive chef. As well as encouraging the children to taste the gnocchi he talked to them about the importance of vegetables. They got to taste and smell heritage carrots (did you know that purple carrots are orange inside?), turnips, samphire and a variety of broccoli, including Romanesco and purple sprouting.
