This week, Year 5 enjoyed their first music technology workshop. The children used a piece of software called SoundTrap with the school Chromebooks as their creative tool. This lesson was the beginning of an exciting new project for Year 6 to create their own film music trailers; Mr Frazer demonstrated the software and off they went creating a range of musical styles. Within a day of their lesson, over 30 pieces of music had been composed.
Mr Frazer said;
“It was wonderful to see the enthusiasm to be creative and take risks with new ideas. The children thoroughly enjoyed the lesson and look forward to using this software as they create their own film music trailers this term. Music technology, as it becomes more accessible, is an exciting area of music and one that may be nurtured and encouraged to suit all children’s abilities and interests from Prep, right up to sixth form. Whether that be on Chromebooks using SoundTrap, in the Mac Suite at King Edward’s using industry standard software, or in the King Edward’s recording studio.”
