As we enter the hibernation season, Reception has been busy learning all about hedgehogs. It’s been a fun-filled week of creativity, discovery, and new knowledge. This week, we read the delightful book ‘Hedgehog Howdedo’, which helped us explore the world of these prickly creatures and learn about their habits and habitats. Each day, we learned an exciting new fact about hedgehogs and added them to our class mind map. Our minds are full of fascinating information about where hedgehogs live, what they eat, and how they prepare for hibernation. The children have been busy with their hands too, and have made adorable paper plate hedgehogs, created detailed drawings of hedgehogs and we ended the week by baking bread roll hedgehogs. One of the most surprising facts we learned was that hedgehogs are very good swimmers, but they need a bridge or ladder to help them get in and out of the water safely.
