On Tuesday 21st May Barrow Hills held our annual Athletics Pentathlon and I am delighted to say we won it (again!). Athletes compete in five events each and see how many points they amass overall: 800m, 70m hurdles, long jump, ball throw, 150m.
We have only lost to Edgeborough in 2017 and we have won it every year since! A huge congratulation to every child who took part. For the first time ever we put out a B team and they performed brilliantly against schools who all raced their A teams.
The break down for the six age groups we entered is as follows: U9A girls won, U11A girls won, U13A girls won! U9A boys 2nd, U11A boys 2nd and U13A boys 2nd!
The B teams came 5th overall in each group but the U13B girls came close to beating one school!
Individually there were 25 children competing in each age group and medals were awarded to the top three athletes for each group:
Honeysuckle (4R) – 1st U9 girls
Sophie (4G) – 2nd U9 girls
George (6R) – 3rd U11 boys
Beatrice (6G) – 1st U11 girls
Laura (6R) – 2nd U11 girls
Cleo (8R) – 1st U13 girls
A brilliant afternoon – thank you Barrow Hills athletes for being fabulous at athletics!
