Max Mikhail OBH 2018

“Ever since a young age, I have had a bat in my hand! I’ve always loved the game of cricket and my love for the game grew when I joined Barrow Hills. Thanks to the brilliant sport there, I managed to play a lot of cricket, and I really enjoyed my time.

I have a lot of great memories playing cricket at the school, but my favourite memories definitely come from the warm environment, and just enjoying my time with my best friends (and some of them I still play with now). Thanks to Mr Clarke, I started playing for Godalming Cricket Club which was the start of my boost in cricket.

After Barrow Hills, I moved to Seaford College where I really progressed due to some brilliant coaches. The defining year for me was the summer of 2022 when I scored a total of 1,500 runs at an average of 46 in this season. I was the third highest run scorer in the Sussex schools’ league which got me noticed by Sussex County Cricket Club, where I bagged myself a season of games for various teams. In 2023, I was given the honour of captaining my college 1st XI, which was brilliant for the cricket CV. I also picked up an all-round sporting prize from Seaford College as I was the only boy in my year to play in all rugby, hockey and cricket first teams.

I was accepted into a very prestigious cricket academy in Australia called the Darren Lehmann Cricket Academy. This was an intense six-month training academy where I was able to develop as a player, and it was a brilliant experience. This season I wish to continue at Sussex as I have been invited back after a strong season in Australia. I wish to thank Barrow Hills for everything they have done for me. I will always have many fond memories.”
