On Sunday, we took a group of Year 5-8 children to London to witness two thrilling hockey matches between the Great Britain and Indian national teams. The event featured both the men’s and women’s teams, and it turned out to be a memorable day filled with intense action, incredible comebacks, and wonderful interactions with the players.
Women’s Match: Great Britain vs. India
Result: Great Britain won 3-2
The Great Britain women’s team displayed remarkable resilience, coming back from a 2-1 deficit and in the last five minutes of the match, they scored twice to secure a thrilling victory. The crowd was on the edge of their seats, cheering as the team turned the game around!
Men’s Match: Great Britain vs. India
Result: Great Britain won 3-2
The men’s match was equally exciting, with both teams showcasing their amazing skills and athleticism. One of the standout moments was a spectacular goal scored by Jack Waller of the Great Britain team right in front of our seats. The energy in the stands was electric!
After the games, the children in our group had the wonderful opportunity to meet many of the players, have photos taken and get memorabilia signed. Several of our children were exceptionally fortunate to receive playing tops and other clothing from a very generous Indian player.
Overall, the hockey trip to London was a fantastic day filled with excitement, sportsmanship, and fun. The children especially enjoyed meeting their hockey heroes and receiving memorabilia, which will undoubtedly inspire them in their own sports endeavors.
We look forward to more such exciting trips in the future!
