Year 1 are really enjoying their new science topic of ‘Materials’ this term.
They will be using the wonderful outdoor space at Barrow Hills to explore this topic. They will also have specific activities tailored to this topic when they visit Tilford Rural Life Centre later this term.
The children have been finding many different materials in the classroom and school garden. The new ‘Through the Trees’ activity area has been an excellent addition to the garden and it has provided many new and varied materials for the children to explore.
During the summer term, the children will be looking at waterproof materials, natural and man made materials, properties of materials and suitable materials for specific purposes. Later this term they will visit the science lab for an experiment with Mr Behan, Head of Science as part of their unit on ‘Materials’.
