Dear Parents,
We found joy celebrating ‘Burns Night’ with traditional Scottish dancing organised by the Music Department. We had the pros in to help us, including a traditional musician and a ‘caller’. All those from Nursery to Year 8 were able to gig along!
Other notable events included Year 6 engaging in interactive science with ‘Sir Isaac Newton’ and a great swimming gala on Tuesday. We also enjoyed some really positive press interest with the Editor of ‘Muddy Stilettos’ magazine spending a morning with us.
The Pre-Prep children, from Reception up, are now wrapped in the comfort and support of our House system. We celebrated the new House Crest Competition with many commendations on Friday. We do have three winners and we will now work to develop these designs into new house crests and mottos. Sam (for McCormack) designed a stag and his Latin ‘incipit hic’ reminds us that our success begins here. Jessica (for Murtough) provided a wonderful robin design with ‘expandentes alas’, calling for us to spread our wings. Finally, George (for Kean) provided his fox with wisdom, independence and benevolence in mind.
We celebrate National Storytelling Week from Monday with events each day to inspire the children. Staff will be sharing favourite literature, so perhaps a good conversation for parents to echo at home!
Enjoy your weekend.
Mr John Towers
