This week, I have also had the pleasure of seeing some lovely examples of Junior Duke booklets coming my way. Please do remind your children to bring their booklets in to have them signed off by their form teachers each time they achieve one of their tasks. I can’t wait to hand out the final badges to those who complete their seven tasks.
Year 3 have had a busy week with lots of learning about money, and it has been wonderful to see them making great progress. In Science, they have got their teeth sunk into rocks and fossils, and I have been informed that next week, they will start to experiment with rocks. I look forward to hearing all about that!
Year 4 have had an equally busy week with an interactive WWII workshop which combined some fascinating historical facts, first-hand accounts of a local evacuee’s journey and handled some supporting artefacts. This really brought the whole experience to life for the children. The interest, knowledge and participation in the workshop was superb!
Year 5 have been busy learning about poetry and had a lovely session with Mr Towers about Pandora’s Box. In Maths, the children have been exploring negative numbers and putting this knowledge to good use with some very tricky sums! In Geography, they have started learning all about India, which they have been enthusiastically telling me all about.
There has been joyful singing of ‘Joseph and his Technicolour Dreamcoat’ songs around school as the Year 6 children prepared to audition for their roles in the Year 5 and 6 play. My ears have been blessed this week.
Last term, Year 5 and 6 completed their Primary Maths Challenge and did extremely well. As I sit here writing this, I have just received confirmation that one of our children did extremely well, which has resulted in them qualifying for the bonus round.
All that is left for me to say is a big well done to 3G, for a wonderful assembly. Everyone spoke so confidently and should be very proud of themselves.
I wish you all lovely weekends, wrap up warm again!
