Weekly Message – The Head

Dear Parents,

Thank you to Year 5 and 6 parents for attending our Senior Schools Transfer evening this week. This is just a small part of our work to help you with confident routes ahead. We held a catch up session later in the week and if you missed both dates, please do reach out.  The evening also provided a moment for our Year 8, and some of our Upper School alumni, to shine as ambassadors to our 13+ offer. This is an essential part of our character and something to cherish and develop. I will send out the presentation slide deck to Year 5 & 6 parents, along with our usual Tuesday messages.

On shine, we were proud to win an Eco Schools UK ‘Merit Award’ last term. This year we would like to match or exceed that achievement. This challenge will allow our children and staff to explore purposeful learning toward a more sustainable future. Our three areas of focus will rest upon healthy living, biodiversity and water ecology. We started on the first this week as we were joined by Marnie, the lead nutritionist from Chartwells, who provided workshops for all the children from Kindy to Upper School. The children explored matters from honey bees to complex carbohydrates with some hands on activities.

Finally, it wasn’t just the Year 8’s being impeccable ambassadors this week, our Kindy children made a great impression when they performed at their inaugural harvest assembly along with a great performance from Year 1 and 2. Such confident singing and fantastic behaviour already!

A P.S… As well as the letter from Mrs Burnett, Head of Pre-Prep this week, do please read on for an update from the Head of Middle Prep, Ms Tyrell.

Warm regards,

Mr John Towers
